Welcome to my blog!

I am a little new to this kind of thing, so it's an exciting first step for me to be able to start doing this kind of thing on the internet all by myself. I am excited to share and explore all kinds of ideas and get involved in tech and STEM!

Historically, STEM is male dominated and while that trend is curbing itself in recent years, women still make up only 34% of employees in STEM related fields. My goal is to increase and broaden WiSTEM contributions and create more bridges to fill those divides.

In this blog I plan to share all kinds of information about STEM opportunities, share personal news about my career path, and also just share generally interesting ideas, problems, and solutions related to STEM and computer science. I will also focus on LGBTQIA+, indigenous, women and POC representation in STEM and participation in STEM. I will also focus on how we can use STEM to address issues and correct historical boundaries concerning underrepresented or disadvantaged/disenfranchised groups and minorities.

Now, a little about myself as well to round out this first blog post: As of this posts writing, I am 18 years old, female, and I was born and raised in Minnesota, USA. I am mixed indigenous (75% white, 25% Iñupiat) and a member of the LGBTQIA+. I am a student focused on Computer Science and Engineering, and I love mathematics, CS, and many other topics which interest me.

With all that said, I hope to post with some amount of regularity, because I think there are a lot of important topics to address and talk about. Conversations about STEM are important, and it is one of the most rapidly growing fields in existence. Together, through conversation, we can all begin to understand and study how the STEM community can mend some of its largest issues and bleeding edge problems.
